← Back to the Portfolio

On View from January 13 through February 17, 2011 at Gallery 151.

Gallery 151 is pleased to announce: “Isaac Aden: Works on Steel”, a solo exhibition by the exciting young artist Isaac Aden. The exhibition features large scale oxidized steel wall works such as Vesuvius (8 x 24 ft.), Vulcan (8 x 16 ft.), and Pompie (8 x 14ft.). Over the last ten years Aden has been perfecting a process he developed to control the oxidation of steel. Situated some were between J. M. Turner and Richard Serra, Aden’s process allows him to create an explosive metaphysical experience. Aden has also developed a subsequent practice, allowing him to make drawings with steel, which will also be included in the exhibition.

“Works on Steel” will be Aden’s sixth solo exhibition in less than one year including two in Germany. Over the past year his work has been included in museum exhibitions at: the Kunst Halle Friedricianaum (Germany’s oldest museum) MassMoca, the SCOPE fair Miami, and Sindelfingen art fair in Stutgart. Aden was recently awarded the Koissak painting fellowship. Twenty five of Aden’s oil portraits “American Women in the Dutch Style” were recently acquired by the New York Public Library and will be on permanent view at the Jefferson Market branch of the New York Public Library.
