GREEN STYLE

311 E 11: Village Green presents ”GREEN STYLE” the newest exhibit from the Urban Green Initiative - an ongoing series of art exhibitions, music concerts & dance performances that will encourage an artistic approach to ongoing conversations about environmental awareness.

The final show at Gallery 151’s 350 Bowery location “GREEN STYLE” features new works by graffiti artists LA.2, SHARP & ERO along with short films by Charlie Ahearn & Jane Dickson. The show was curated with the intention of celebrating Graffiti as a beloved contemporary art form which has transcended the streets and trains into galleries and homes, creating a cultural force that cannot be ignored. This vibrant group show pays homage to the soul of 1980’s New York,
exploring the roots of Graffiti culture and it’s current movement. The “Green Style” show embraces the art form as a vehicle to raise awareness on the environmental issue of climate change.

To make an important point and stimulate discussion towards environmental responsibility and climate change Gallery 151 provided the artists with low or no V.O.C spray paint to create new ways of expressing the importance of our environment. These never before seen pieces are shown along with classic pieces from the Gallery 151 collection of works by ERO from the 1980’s legendary FUN Gallery and select pieces by L.A.2 & SHARP. The show also features rare video footage of Times Square in 1980 from Charlie Ahearn (Director of the classic graffiti film “Wild Style”) and “City Maze” by Jane Dickson, which was shot in 16mm with a soundtrack by Sandy Seymour and a rap by Fab 5 Freddy.
